The Power of Personal Stories

Today I was reminded of the transformational power in a personal story.

This week I carved out a good chunk of time each day dedicated to working on my personal plan. You know, trying to figure out what I'm doing with my life. I decided that I would go to bed at the same time as my toddler each night, get eight hours of sleep and set my alarm for 5am to have the space between 5am and 7am for me. For me to be alone and focus on formulating my personal strategy and roadmap.

One of the mornings while doing some research, I discovered Google's #40Forward initiative. I immediately signed up for the local breakfast series here in Minneapolis and found my way to the morning gathering at CoCo today at 8am. I had some idea what to expect from the invitation, but found that I could have never imagined the vast array of tools I would leave with.

And more so, I never imagined that I would find such a deep connection to @cleverkate's story. What an amazing woman. I admire any person that is willing to go out on a limb and publicly share the rawness of what has made them them. What has brought them to where they are today. I'm incredibly thankful for Kate's honesty and generosity in sharing her story. Thankful for her leadership and sharing her tips and tools as a female leader and an entrepreneur.

I can't wait for the next #40Forward event in September.
